A celebration of the life of Lora Marie Upton will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Claremore. Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m with family there to receive visitors from 5-8 p.m

Lora a long time resident of Inola earned her wings, Monday, July 27, 2015 at her home at the age of 57. She was born Feb. 19, 1958 in Torrence, Calif. to Darrell Edward Heskett and Kay (Johnson) Heskett.

She graduated from Lennox High School in 1975. Upon her graduation, Lora moved to Oklahoma in 1981 to be near her family. One ordinary day she was outside playing Frisbee in a cowboy hat on the street corner when she met rusty Upton.

The two were married on a hill in Inola on June 3, 1982.

Lora was previously employed at the Claremore Police Department before beginning her long time career at the Rogers County Sherriff Office.

She took great pride in her work and felt it was her mission to take care of everyone, work and family.

Lora was the rock of her family- she loved being in the “Grammy Club”.

Lora enjoyed being outside gardening in her flower beds. She was also quite the artist and referred to herself as a “Junk Gypsy”- she could make anything into something beautiful! She liked taking pictures, painting and of course crafting- she had so many projects that she had to have her own hobby shop. She also enjoyed mowing and mastered her zero turn, world’s faster mower.

Lora is survived by her husband, Rusty Upton of the home; children, Tiffany McAfee and husband, Charles and Jessie Upton and wife, Heather both of Inola; parents, Kay and Darrell Heskett of Chelsea; siblings, Joe Lee Heskett of Bullhead City, Ariz., Eddie Ray Heskett of Inola, Lois Denice Heskett of Chelsea and Keith Heskett and wife, Leslie of Verdigris; grandchildren, Adalyn and Marick McAfee and Hailee, Trenton and Mackenzie Upton, Caleb, David and Erin Turnbull; nieces and nephews; Joey, Megan and Kirby Heskett, Michael and Travis Pitts, Matt, Reid and Kaitlin Heskett.

She was preceded in death by her “Grams” Vivian Brockway.
