DAVID MATHERLY
Doctor of Optometry
Dave went home to be with our Heavenly Father after losing his battle with leukemia December 12, 2009. Born in Los Angeles May 16, 1943 to Joe and Phyllis Matherly, now both deceased, he lived the early part of his life in and around the Los Angeles area. Surviving family members are his sister, Donna Matherly; wife, Marchele Matherly; and (4) children, James, Kaydee, Frank and Alicia. After Lennox High School, then BYU [B.S. degree in Physics], Dave was employed by Hughes Aircraft and TRW before returning to optometry school. Growing up in Inglewood, Dave decided to make Lancaster, Calif. his home. It was there he raised his family |
and had his optometry practice for many years. Dave enjoyed playing the violin and had recently joined a small orchestra in Lancaster. There were many hobbies over the years including being an avid amateur ham radio operator-W6IBX. Also he was always active in his church. A devoted family man gone too soon, he will be greatly missed. A service was held December 19, 2009 at Lancaster Ward Chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Interment following at Joshua Memorial Park, Lancaster, California.
